The Southern Heritage Foundation, Inc. conducts philanthropic activities throughout the local Memphis area, within the state of Tennessee, and in the southeast region of the United States.
SHF is committed to tackling the greatest problems in Memphis, Tennessee by addressing the changing needs of the community in the areas of education, health and community development.
The Southern Heritage Foundation, Inc. was founded on September 4, 1989. It was the vision of Memphis community members Fred Jones, Louise Johnson-Holman, Melvin Burgess and William Jones. Incorporated as a 501c-3 foundation, it conducts philanthropic activities throughout the local Memphis area, within the state of Tennessee, and in the southeast region of the United States.
During its thirty-four (34) year history, the Southern Heritage Foundation (SHF) has been committed to tackling the greatest problems in Memphis, Tennessee by addressing the changing needs of the community in the areas of education, health and community development. SHF has supported organizations that have had a long-term positive impact on the community. Financial support of SHF’s philanthropy is generated by its fundraising campaigns with corporations, state institutions, entertainment companies and individual gifts.
The purpose of the Southern Heritage Foundation, Inc. shall be to provide financial support to organizations with an emphasis on religious, charitable, scientific, literacy or educational activities. The Southern Heritage Foundation shall work in unison with individual community members, corporations, local and state institutions to conduct fundraising to support SHF’s philanthropic efforts.
